The Western Ghats Golf Club (Aamby Valley City)

The Western Ghats Golf Club is the 18-hole championship course inside Aamby Valley City, the Sahara Group's hill-city resort above Lonavala: about 7,100 yards, par 72 (derived from the published hole mix), spread across 256 acres of fairway, with a large teaching academy claiming PGA of Great Britain & Ireland-certified instruction and GASP swing analysis. The course hosted a PGTI Players Championship in May 2010, and the resort's site remains live with working reservations lines. On the ownership question: Aamby Valley's parent has been through years of well-documented legal and financial trouble — the property was sealed for tax default in 2016 and the Supreme Court ordered its auction in 2017 — but the auctions drew no buyers and were suspended, and a November 2023 report states the court allowed the Sahara Group to retain control of the property. So the course has not been sold out from under its operator; it is still run by Sahara as part of Aamby Valley City. What is genuinely missing is anything dated from 2025 or later: the club's currency rests entirely on the operator's own maintained website naming it as a current facility, not on any dated news, fixture or event. The 2026 copyright line on that site is site-wide and proves nothing about the golf course. Its day-to-day condition and availability should therefore be confirmed by phone before travelling.
