Hyderabad Golf Club
Few courses anywhere play through a 16th-century fort: the Hyderabad Golf Club's 18 holes are laid out in and around Golconda and the Naya Qila precinct, completed in 2014 by the Hyderabad Golf Association. The club's own rule is generous — walk-in golfers holding any IGU- or USGA-recognised handicap play on payment of fees (₹2,500 weekday), and the floodlit range takes anyone at ₹100 per 50 balls, no tee time needed.

What we knowEverything on file, and what the sources disagreed about
The Hyderabad Golf Club is the Hyderabad Golf Association's 18-hole course laid out in
and around the historic Golconda Fort and the Naya Qila precinct (Wikipedia does not give a
count of holes inside Naya Qila, so none is claimed here).
The HGA was formed in 1992 and the full course was completed in August 2014; it is par 70 at
roughly 6,100 yards (Wikipedia gives 5,900–6,100 and par 70–71 depending on tees). It is the most
accessible full course in the city: the club states that walk-in golfers may play on payment
of fees, though it asks for a valid IGU/USGA-recognised handicap certificate
and its coaches can assess uncertified players. The floodlit driving range is open to
non-members with published ball-bucket rates, and there is an academy, pro shop and
clubhouse. The fees page also lists an indoor simulator at the range (simulator pricing
omitted here per directory policy). The official site is actively maintained — its newest
dated content is an annual course-maintenance schedule for 4–16 May 2026, which is what the
last_public_sighting above rests on. All prices above were re-read from the official fees
page in August 2026 and matched tier for tier, but that page carries no effective date of its
own and the club itself directs players to the Starter desk for the current tariff, so treat
the amounts as "published as of August 2026" rather than "in force since".
How a non-member actually gets on (from the club's Play-at-HGA page, read August 2026): the club publishes no online visitor-booking channel — the site's BOOK TEE TIME button leads to a login-gated member portal — so the practical route is to phone the Starter desk (+91-94901-16041) or the HGA office. A handicap certificate is required for the course, and the club's published path for players without one is: contact the HGA office or Starter Desk, complete the required rounds under supervision, submit scorecards to HGA, and the certificate is issued. The driving range needs no tee time — pay per bucket. Course hours are 5:30 AM–6:00 PM in summer and 5:50 AM–5:00 PM in winter; the range opens 5:30 AM with last bucket at 6:30 PM and closes at 7:00 PM. A collared shirt is required (no round-neck or sleeveless shirts, no jeans). The club's expansion within Golconda's Naya Qila remains contested: a Siasat report of 28 January 2025 describes additional land being taken into the course under an MoU, with heritage activists objecting and the ASI stating the monuments remain publicly accessible.
