Army Uppat Golf Course
The Uppat (Upat Kalika) golf course, about 5 km from Ranikhet on the Almora road, is a 9-hole, par-35 course at roughly 6,132 ft, maintained by the Kumaon Regimental Centre of the Indian Army and long promoted by travel guides as one of Asia's highest courses and a place where tourists could play a round for a small fee (~₹150, mornings only).

The access picture now has a dated chain, drawn from Hindi and regional press. Amar Ujala's Almora edition reported on 13 June 2022 that the ground reopened to the public after an eighteen-month closure — southern portion 11 AM–1 PM daily, the full ground on Tuesdays — with the Army conditioning the reopening on cleanliness and delegating upkeep to the Cantonment Board. By May 2023 a TripAdvisor reviewer found tourists barred again, restricted to watching from the railings. Then Live Times reported on 19 October 2024 that the ground had reopened to tourists after roughly two years, from 11 AM to 2 PM. In short: access to this Army ground has been switching on and off since 2020, is — per the newest dated evidence — currently open in a limited daytime window, and is never published by the Army itself, and nothing from 2025 or 2026 could be found to confirm today's position. The ₹150 green-fee figure that travel sites keep recycling is undated and should not be relied on; the dated reopening reports mention no fee.
