FRIMA Golf Course
FRIMA — the Forest Research Institute Military Academy golf course — is Dehradun's main full-length course, shared between the Forest Research Institute and the Indian Military Academy on their adjoining campuses off Cutter Buck Road. A first-person account from April 2022 describes a par-72 round of 6,468 yards achieved with five repeat holes played off staggered tees, thick sal forest lining nearly every fairway (lost balls and ball-stealing crows both flagged as hazards), and greens partially under maintenance at the time. The same account puts the green fee for outside visitors at a nominal ₹500 with reasonable caddie rates — institutional land, but genuinely playable by outsiders. The course is listed on Playo and GolfPass, but neither carries dated recent activity, so nothing recent confirms current conditions — check before travelling.

What we knowEverything on file, and what the sources disagreed about
The fullest account of the course dates from April 2022, including a ₹500 green fee for public players — a figure that has not been re-confirmed since. A tantalising 2025 signal turned out to be less than it seemed: Uttarakhand's 38th National Games (28 January–14 February 2025) named FRIMA among its ten competition sites, with state infrastructure work reported — but ETV Bharat reported on 16 January 2025 that golf was struck from the Games programme over a dispute in the sport's central federation, so no tournament was held here, and the naming shows only that the course exists and was being upgraded, not that it is open for play. The episode does suggest the course physically survives in improved condition — worth confirming in person.
