That audit reflects the position as of August 2009, though, and nothing dated 2025 or later confirms the course is operating today. golftoday.co.uk also lists a 9-hole "Kanpur Golf Club" in the Army cantonment founded in the early 1900s, "along the bank of the Ganges", run by a committee of military personnel and members of the public — confirming the alias and the hole count, and hinting at a route in for outsiders that neither GolfPass nor any official source supports. The AEPTA question is better understood but still unresolved. The golf directory Golf & Travel International runs near-identical pages for an "Army AEPTA Kanpur Golf Course" and an "Army Defence Services Golf Club" on Tagore Road — and both pages carry the same internal contradiction, a header saying "9 holes" over an overview describing "a challenging and picturesque 18-hole course". That identical defect across two pages is the signature of one template filled twice, not of two surveyed facilities, so neither page can be relied on for any specific fact. What can be taken from them is only the expansion of the acronym, given as "Army Environmental Park and Training Area". The directory itself treats the two as separate nearby courses, cross-linking "Army AEPTA, Kanpur" from the Defence Services page. Whether these are one facility under two names or genuinely two courses in Kanpur Cantt cannot be resolved from public information; the CAG's single 28.90-acre Kanpur listing is suggestive of one but not decisive. The old Cawnpore Club still shows no golf evidence: it appears at "33, Cantonment" in a 2024 affiliated-clubs directory, listed purely as a social club.
It is worth saying what could not be found. No golf reference appears on any Indian Army, Ministry of Defence, PIB or defence-estates page for Kanpur. The Kanpur Cantonment Board's own site has a "Recreation Facilities" page — the obvious place for an official answer — but it could not be reached; a sibling cantonment site served only staff contact details with no golf mention. No joining instructions, station orders or course brochure naming a Kanpur golf course surfaced, in English or Hindi; no news item from 2025 or 2026 about golf at Kanpur Cantt was found; and the club publishes no website of its own.
