Trivandrum Golf Club
Trivandrum Golf Club goes back to the 1850s under Maharajah Sreemoolam Tirunal, and its 120-year-old colonial clubhouse in Kowdiar is a certified Heritage Building — today the whole operation is run by the Sports Authority of India, complete with a National Golf Academy opened in 2024. The tariff is the most democratic of any heritage club on this directory: ₹1,180 for any Indian visitor, ₹590 for students, junior coaching around ₹300 a session — phone to arrange a round.

What we knowEverything on file, and what the sources disagreed about
Trivandrum Golf Club in Kowdiar is one of India's oldest courses — Wikipedia dates it to the 1850s under Maharajah Sreemoolam Tirunal — and is today run by the Sports Authority of India (through its LNCPE campus administration), branded "SAI Trivandrum Golf Club". A ₹9.27-crore upgrade of the nine-hole course and a new SAI National Golf Academy were inaugurated by the Union Sports Minister in October 2024 (PIB). The course is short (9 holes, par 34, ~2,645 yards per GolfPass) on 25.38 acres. Every price below comes straight from the official tariff, as checked in August 2026: green fees of ₹1,180 for Indians and ₹2,360 for foreigners, both GST-inclusive, ₹590 for students and again ₹590 for members' guests as two separate rows, caddie fees of ₹500 for nine holes and ₹1,000 for eighteen for non-member Indians, junior coaching at ₹354 up to 18 and ₹295 up to 12, and temporary membership at ₹39,500 (₹25,000 plus 18% GST plus a ₹10,000 deposit). The tariff carries no effective date, so those figures are as shown on the operator's page rather than dated from a rate revision. That the club prices "Indians" and "Foreigners" as categories distinct from members' guests and affiliated members is what makes this pay-and-play; GolfPass classifies it semi-private — a disagreement worth knowing about. Hours are not published on any operator page seen; no operator booking channel is published either, so the practical route is the phone line (+91-471-2434060, independently carried by both GolfPass and Golf Fee Card, which also lists saigolftrivandrum@gmail.com) — Golf Fee Card additionally claims tee times open one week in advance, an outside detail to treat with caution.
The SAI stewardship has its own dated arc: the operator's About page records that the course was leased to the Sports Authority of India in 2014 for 33 years and that the SAI Trivandrum Golf Club and a golf academy were inaugurated on 22 September 2014; PIB's release of 20 October 2024 then records the ₹9.27-crore upgrade and the SAI National Golf Academy's inauguration as "the first of its kind in Kerala"; and a PIB release of 10 July 2025 notes the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports ending an LNCPE review visit at the club — the newest dated official mention. The About page also describes the 120-year-old colonial-Kerala clubhouse, certified a Heritage Building by the Department of Archaeology, and states a course length of 2,345 yards, which sits between golfpass's red- and white-tee figures and is carried as a recorded conflict.
