Coffee country keeps two very different courses. Mercara Downs, above Madikeri since about 1914, is the hill course the British likened to Scotland — a full 18 at par 70 now, ₹4,000-plus-tax to play, rooms on site if you make a weekend of it. Down at Bittangala near Virajpet, Coorg Golf Links was built on reclaimed wetland between estates and runs member-first, with access through one of its seventy-plus affiliated clubs or a call ahead. Neither takes an online booking; both answer the phone.
