Coorg Golf Links
Coorg Golf Links was conceived in 1987 and built on reclaimed wetland between coffee estates at Bittangala, five kilometres from Virajpet — the club calls itself one of the few privately owned courses in the country, with some 1,600 members and affiliations to over seventy Indian clubs. There is no published green fee or walk-in route: access runs through an affiliated-club card or a call ahead to the club's own numbers.

What we knowEverything on file, and what the sources disagreed about
Coorg Golf Links at Bittangala, five kilometres from Virajpet in south Kodagu, is an 18-hole, par-70 course of about 6,100 yards, conceived in 1987 and established in 1991 on reclaimed wetland between coffee estates — the club calls itself one of the few privately owned courses in the country and reported about 1,600 members as of 2023. It sits next to the Ambatty Greens resort and lists affiliations with 72 Indian clubs and four international ones, though its own affiliated-clubs page actually names 73 domestic entries. Its place on the Karnataka Golf Association's affiliated-club fee sheet, last modified June 2026, is the newest dated evidence that it is running, and it is what the "operating" status rests on: the club's own website, while genuine, is frozen at a 2025 copyright with no content newer than 2023, so it is treated as stale rather than maintained — and as of August 2026 the domain is under a suspected SEO compromise (gambling content observed in India-localized search results for its pages; see the website note), so nothing should link to it until it is checked and cleared. Crucially for a tourist region, no owner page anywhere publishes a green fee, a guest policy or a temporary-membership route; the only documented access is the reciprocal one, for members of affiliated clubs. Traveller reviews suggest visitors do get rounds, so treat access as "call ahead" rather than pay-and-play. The site's own two course pages disagree on the length (6,100 vs 6,200 yards) and on the 18th hole.
