MEG Army Golf Course
The MEG Army Golf Course belongs to the Madras Engineer Group ("the Madras Sappers"), one of Bengaluru's oldest army formations, based near Ulsoor since 1834. GolfPass lists an 18-hole, par-70 course of about 5,308 yards established in 1979, with a range, practice areas, rentals, caddies and a restaurant, and classifies it as a military facility; Greenfee365 carries a second, thinner listing for the same course (18 holes, par 72 — a conflict left unresolved) which is marked "not activated" with no fees. There is no official web presence, no published access terms or prices, and no dated public activity from 2025 or later, so nothing confirms the course is currently operating.

More detail
What we knowEverything on file, and what the sources disagreed about
Nothing about a MEG golf course appears in official sources: searches in August 2026 of
indianarmy.nic.in, *.gov.in and *.nic.in, PIB, MEG & Centre recruitment and station
material, cantonment sources, the Karnataka Golf Association site, and Kannada- and Hindi-
language local news produced nothing at all. The Wikipedia article on the Madras Engineer
Group does not mention golf. The only official document that touches it is CAG Report No.
35 of 2010, Annexure-IV, which lists "Bangalore" (row 10, 197.18 acres) among 97 Army golf
courses on defence land as at August 2009; that supports the course's existence but is far
too old to establish current operation. One golf directory (mScorecard) indexes the course
as "MEG Environmental Park and Training Area", matching the Army's 2004 convention of
renaming golf courses as Environmental Parks and Training Areas — that page is access-
blocked, so the name can only be treated as a possible alias, not an established fact.
Relationship to ASC Centre Golf Course (asc-centre-golf-course.md) — not a duplicate.
These are Bengaluru's two separate Army courses and the pair was re-checked in August 2026.
This one is MEG's, at Charles Campbell Road in the Ulsoor/Cox Town pocket (GolfPass PIN
560008, built 1979, par 70, 5,308 yd). The other is the Army Service Corps Centre course at
Agram/Domlur off Old Airport Road (GolfPass "Airport Rd, Domlur", PIN 560007, built 1964,
par 71, 5,960 yd) — a different formation, a different cantonment pocket some 4 km away, a
different founding year and a different card, carried as an independent record by GolfPass.
Caveat for any future dedup sweep: the CAG annexure has one row per station, so its single
"Bangalore" row neither confirms nor refutes two courses, and its 197.18 acres must not be
read as proof that only one exists. Do not merge these records on that basis.
