Pilikula Golf Club
Pilikula is the rebuild story of Indian golf right now: Mangaluru's old 9-holer was demolished in 2024 and reborn on 9 January 2026 as an 18-hole, par-72, 6,747-yard Phil Ryan design — fully floodlit on 102 poles, host of India's first floodlit Pro-Am within the month, and by the club's own claim the only fully floodlit course in India outside Delhi NCR. Walk-in guests are explicitly welcome, with green fees starting at ₹1,500 and nine holes playable under lights until an 8 pm last tee (closed Mondays).

What we knowEverything on file, and what the sources disagreed about
Pilikula Golf Club at Moodushedde/Vamanjoor on Mangaluru's outskirts sits beside the Pilikula Nisargadhama eco-park complex. The course stands on government land and is run by a joint committee of six government officials and six private members, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada; the club itself was registered as a separate body on 11 October 2001. The "Pilikula 2.0" expansion is real and built, not merely announced: the original 9-hole course closed in 2024, was rebuilt at a reported cost of about ₹20 crore to a design by Pacific Coast Design (Phil Ryan), and was formally inaugurated on 9 January 2026 in an upgraded "A-Plus" category. Dated trade coverage from 17 January 2026 describes the finished layout as "an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring 6,747 yards", and the club advertises full floodlighting (102 poles, 655 lights, 16 km of cabling), claiming to be the only fully floodlit course in India outside Delhi NCR; India's first floodlit Pro-Am was staged there on 31 January 2026. GolfPass's 9-hole/par-36/3,134-yard listing dates from before the rebuild and is stale — trust the newer dated sources. On who may play, the club itself is clear (August 2026): its golf page sells to walk-in guests — "We offer competitive rates for walk-in guests, with special privileges for members and affiliated clubs" — with green fees starting from ₹1,500 and buggies at ₹1,200 for nine holes or ₹1,800 for eighteen. Only the ₹1,500 floor is published: the "View Full Rates" button on the page does not work, so weekday/weekend and night-golf pricing remain unknown, and none of it carries a stated effective date. The membership tariff on the join page (₹10,00,000 permanent down to ₹25,000 student associate, plus 18% GST) is a separate price list, not the visitor route. Published playing hours are Tuesday to Sunday, first tee 5:00 AM, last tee 6:00 PM for eighteen holes and 8:00 PM for nine holes under lights, closed Mondays for maintenance; booking runs through the club's app or by phone, since the site's own booking buttons are inert. The rebuilt driving range is confirmed by the club — twelve covered bays, floodlit for evening practice. Club and caddy hire and the teaching pro are known only from the stale pre-2024 GolfPass listing. The Michael D'Souza Golf Academy is still not operating — its foundation stone was laid on inauguration day (reported 10 January 2026) and the club's own page shows academy registrations as "Opening Soon" in August 2026. TripAdvisor's 3.6 of 5 across 22 reviews should be read with care: the newest review is from December 2022, so every one of them describes the demolished 9-hole course.
