Yak Golf Course
The Yak Golf Course at Kupup in East Sikkim holds the Guinness World Record as the highest golf course on earth: 13,025 feet (3,970 m) above sea level, 6,026 yards long, measured for that record on 10 October 2006. It sits inside an Indian Army installation on the old Silk Route road toward Jelep La and Nathang Valley, and for almost everyone it is a viewpoint rather than a place to play — Silk Route tourists photograph it from the road with a permit for the area, while actual play is an Army matter with no published access terms, prices, or contacts. Basic facts like the hole count are not reliably published, and no dated post-2006 evidence of golf activity could be found (tourist-site "2025/2026" stamps are auto-generated), so nothing confirms golf is still played here today.
