Cockerel Golf Club
Cockerel Golf Club is the Indian Army's 23rd Division course inside Dipatoli cantonment, Ranchi, known under several names — Cockerel GC, the CEPTA course, or simply Army Golf Course Dipatoli. A detailed December 2021 visit write-up describes an 18-hole layout over roughly 130 acres, par 72 and 6,304 yards from the championship tees, though another directory says 13 holes — a direct conflict nothing found can resolve. Play is for members and guests introduced by a member; it is not open to the general public, and no phone, email, website, or social presence exists. Even the PIN code is unresolved (one directory listing says 835031; Dipatoli cantonment addresses usually carry 834009). A January 2022 blog comment put the green fee at ₹700–800. Nothing dated after 2021 could be found even on a fresh search in 2026 — only undated directory shells (mScorecard, Hole19, thegolfcourses, aloeus) and golfandtravel's site-wide "© 2026" footer, an auto-stamp — so nothing confirms the club's current status. The course's existence is corroborated by the CAG: Annexure-IV of Report No. 35 of 2010 lists 353.00 acres of defence golf-course land at Dipatoli as of August 2009 — which itself conflicts with the 2021 write-up's ~130 acres. The same annexure carries a separate 19.55-acre "Ranchi" row, so Dipatoli/Cockerel may not be the only army golf land in the city — an open question rather than an established fact.
