Eco Park Golf Arena

Eco Park Golf Arena is a government-run 9-hole short course and practice facility near Gate 6 of New Town's Eco Park, operated by WBHIDCO (the state housing and infrastructure corporation). Opened in 2017 and relaunched as the "Golf Arena" in April 2019, it was built explicitly to make golf affordable to people shut out of Kolkata's club scene. It has a Golf Design India-designed 9-holer (WBHIDCO says "1,500 yards+", godigit says 1,402 yards par 36 — the figures conflict), a floodlit 12-bay covered range plus 12 open bays, and chipping and putting greens. The official tariff effective 1 November 2024 is refreshingly concrete: ₹590 pay-and-play, ₹118 for 50 range balls, ₹2,360/month beginner coaching, ₹47,465 adult annual membership. That tariff remains the newest dated evidence, but WBHIDCO's own project page — on a site that is demonstrably maintained, carrying tender notices dated June 2026 — describes the arena in the present tense as "currently the only golf course in East Kolkata" and still serves its tariff, rules and dress-code PDFs, so on the operator's own live word the arena is operating as of August 2026. Two things that look like evidence are not: godigit's "last updated" line is a site-wide auto-stamp, and the Eco Park visitor site (ecoparknewtown.com), though it describes the course, has not been refreshed since a 2021 copyright. Sources also disagree on the plot size — WBHIDCO says 20 acres, the Eco Park site 25. As of August 2026 the November 2024 tariff is still the one WBHIDCO publishes: the same PDF, with the same effective-date line and figures, is still linked from the project page, and no newer golf tariff or notice exists on the site. The layout's character is par-3-dominated: a crowd-sourced Hole19 scorecard shows par 29 with mostly par-3 holes over about 1,283 yards, which fits WBHIDCO's "1,500 yards+" framing better than godigit's par-36 claim, though no operator page publishes a par. On TripAdvisor it holds 4.3 from just 4 reviews, none newer than 2019.
