Fort William Golf Course
A 9-hole, par-36 army course of about 3,300 yards (white tees) inside Fort William, the Indian Army's Eastern Command headquarters on the Kolkata Maidan. Godigit dates it to 1957 and says access is restricted to defence personnel and their guests; the GolfPass course page prints the same numbers — 9 holes, par 36, 3,298 yd white / 2,899 yd red, built 1957, category Private/Military — and lists it under the army's "Environmental Park & Training Area" naming, abbreviated FWEPTA. The two listings almost certainly share the same underlying data, though, so their agreement is not independent confirmation. Access terms are not published anywhere public, there is no club website, and nothing dated confirms the course's current state.

What we knowEverything on file, and what the sources disagreed about
"Eastern Command Golf Course" is another name for this course, not a second one. Fort William is Eastern Command HQ, so a "9-hole Eastern Command Golf Course in Kolkata" is this facility under its formation name. The claim of a separate course traces to exactly one page — a listicle that gives both names as separate entries but supplies no address, no phone, no par, no yardage and no founding year for either, and whose "well maintained" wording echoes the visitor-review text about this course ("A well maintained 9 hole course with well defined fairways with trees on either side") that circulates among golf directories. Every independent directory that covers Kolkata names exactly one army course and has no Eastern Command entry, and a web search for "Eastern Command Golf Course" returns no Indian result at all.
The Comptroller and Auditor General's August 2009 audit of golf courses on defence land includes a Kolkata entry of 30.00 acres. "Calcutta", "Fort William" and "Barrackpore" appear nowhere in it. This corroborates that an army golf course existed at Kolkata station in August 2009, but says nothing about its current state; and because the audit lists stations, not individual courses, the single Kolkata entry neither proves nor disproves a second Kolkata course.
