Calcutta Ladies Golf Club

The Calcutta Ladies Golf Club, founded on 7 May 1891, is a women's golf club on the Kolkata Maidan — by its own account one of the oldest ladies' golf clubs in the world and the first to be established, controlled and managed independently by women. It plays its OWN 9-hole course: the club's own website states it "has a 9-hole golf course on Maidan opposite Fort William South Gate", with an 18-hole putting green and a practice facility at the clubhouse cottage, and the club office is at 12A Lord Sinha Road. It is not a tenant of another club's course. An Outlook Traveller feature of August 2023 describes the club running its own nine holes while members additionally enjoy reciprocal play at Royal Calcutta Golf Club once a week and at Fort William's 9-hole course on certain days — so the RCGC and Fort William links are reciprocity, not a shared course. Membership is women- only ("no male golfers can join"), with members able to bring guests; no visitor or green- fee route is published anywhere. The par-34 / 1,807-yard figures come from undated directory listings, not from the club, and golfpass also prints a shorter 1,767-yard red card. A ₹500 monthly membership figure circulated by an insurance-marketing directory is undated and cannot be verified — the club publishes no fees. Golfpass lists a golf simulator, but no other source — including the club itself and a journalist writing from the premises — mentions one. The club's own site carried a dated January 2025 championship notice, the freshest sign the club is active; the phone numbers below come from directory listings and are unchecked, because the club's own contact page could not be reached.
