Founded in 1895, the Kodaikanal Golf Club runs an 18-hole, par-71 course over about 150 wooded acres at 2,220 m in the Palani Hills, six kilometres from Kodaikanal town on Golf links Road. The club's own scorecard measures the course at 6,139 yards off the blue tees (5,686 red, 5,328 white); Wikipedia's 6,426 and GolfPass's 6,109 both disagree with it and with each other. It is a private members club — the club says "over 400 members", Wikipedia says over 600 — where membership is applied for by email to the Secretary and applicants must hold a handicap or acquire one within six months. Despite Wikipedia's statement that non-members may play by taking temporary membership or paying green fees, the club publishes no green fee anywhere on its own site; the only visitor routes it actually documents are being a member's guest or arriving as an affiliated-club member with an introduction letter from your home club. A 2019 visitor was turned away at the gate, so do not arrive unannounced. Wikipedia and GolfPass both say the course closes 15 April to 15 June, but the club's own pages show a Summer Tournament with an April/May 2026 winners list and a Club Day on 31 May 2025, so that closure claim looks wrong. The official website is a full, actively maintained 18-page site — the root URL is only a splash screen. Guest rooms (two each of super deluxe, deluxe and standard) are confirmed on the club's own tariff page.
