Naldehra Golf Club
Naldehra, laid out in 1905 at Lord Curzon's instigation about 22 km from Shimla, is generally cited as India's oldest golf course and is maintained today by Himachal Tourism. Sources disagree on its size: the official HP Tourism page describes a 9-hole layout played as 18 holes (16 greens, 18 tees), while several outside sites claim it was "expanded to 18 holes"; par is given as 69 by HP Tourism and 68 (4,285 yards) by tourmyindia. Day play is available "for a nominal fee" with day, temporary and annual membership tiers, but no actual amounts are published anywhere found. The playing season runs roughly April to November. An April 2026 travel guide confirms the course is in use and notes that entry inside the course itself is restricted to registered golfers — general tourists are kept to the surrounding meadow. Beware: naldehragolfclub.com is an anonymous SEO/content site that is not verifiably run by the club — as of August 2026 it shows no identity, no year on its copyright, and betting ads. No course phone or email could be found anywhere; HPTDC's old Hotel Golf Glade page has been retired and its live replacement (the "Work from the Hills" page, which still places the hotel on the edge of the golf course) publishes no phone numbers either, so as of August 2026 there is no published contact route at all. The official HP Tourism golf page confirms the 9-hole/16-green/18-tee layout and "nominal fee" walk-in play verbatim, but carries no page-specific date of any kind, so it cannot show how current that information is.
